The Two Salvation's

Image
There is no doubt, if you have read any of my previous posts, that I believe that eternal salvation is obtained 100% by the sovereign grace of Christ and nothing else. If you notice, I said ETERNAL salvation is by grace and grace alone. A lot of people might be saying "well, isn't that what salvation is?" or "Doesn't salvation determine where we will spend eternity?" The answer is yes to both of those questions but this is where the Primitive Baptists are different than a lot of other factions. You see, we believe in an Eternal salvation, but we also believe in a salvation here in time.  We believe that before the foundation of the world (1Pet. 1:20) the Lord saved a remnant according to the doctrine of election, and our works have nothing to do with our salvation because of the state we are in by nature. It had to take Jesus Christ to pay with his blood, so we could be washed "whiter than snow." We believe this was a sign of God's love for hi...

Fear Not

Image
In this life that we live in, it is very easy to become distraught and down because of everything that comes up in this life. This past week was a stressful week for me, simply because I wasn't doing the best mentally. I was just having a down week. It could have been the same case for you. We tend to think that when we are facing challenges, that we are the only ones who are facing the challenge. Let me tell you something, you are not the only one facing problems or fear. All of us have been through the fire at some point. We have all been to the point where we thought that there wasn't anything left, that it had all gone bad. As we look at the scriptures we can see that is simply not the case. It has not all gone bad, the scriptures even support the fact that there will be a church body meeting when Jesus Christ comes again. In that alone we can have hope that the light of God will be shining still in this world when Christ comes. On top of that you can look at the fact that...

It Is Finished!

Image
A lot of times, salvation is portrayed as something that you have to work for, or accept the work of Jesus Christ to get it. Well, as a Primitive Baptist I believe both are wrong and i'm gonna tell you why. First of all, i'm gonna tell you what I do believe. I believe in the finished work of Jesus Christ, and He saved us by His grace and His grace ALONE. It states in Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." We can see in this passage of scripture that we have nothing to do with our own salvation and I thank God for that. If you go to Romans 6:23 it says "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." This brings to mind a few different thoughts. First of all, it reminds us that we are all sinners and have all fallen short of the Glory of God. Jesus Christ was the only man that has walked this earth...

What is Fellowship?

Image
An idea that is regarded a lot among the Primitive Baptists is the idea of fellowship. Now, some of you might wonder what that is. You might have thought "what exactly is fellowship?" Well that is what I am going to try to explain in these next few thoughts. As I was listening to a previously recorded sermon this week, I was directed to the book of Acts. In Acts 2:1 it says that the day of Pentecost had fully come, I am paraphrasing just a little there but in the latter part of that verse it says they were all with one accord in one place. That alone says a lot about fellowship. The best feelings I have had in the Church of God, the heavenly Jerusalem, were when several of God's saints were all in one place, gathered together, as it says in Acts 2:1. You see, to be in fellowship with a church body or one another takes being gathered together, not apart, you can't have fellowship if you are apart. As you read on to verse 4 it says that they were filled with the ...

Evolution and The Heresy Thereof

Image
In recent weeks, the theory (which will always just be a theory) of Evolution has been on my mind. A lot of people think that this world just came about out of happenstance. They think that by chance life started out as some sort of bacteria, and from the same bloodline came mammals, and eventually mammals who were humans. With that idea alone, theoretically, if we did evolve from monkeys or apes or whatever the "science" says, there shouldn't be any monkeys or apes left, it should only be humans. As we can see here on God's green earth today, that is not the case but deception seems to be something that is prevalent in today's society.  They think that by chance, the most complex computer on the face of the earth (aka, the human brain) came about. They think that a body with so much detail just came about, literally out of thin air. If you use any true form of logic and thinking, that is pure nonsense! I don't find the earth and all life to be created quite ...
